Just over two months ago during Commitment Sunday and several weeks that followed the congregation made 3-year commitments to The Next Step Campaign. The commitments we received totaled $3,037,025 (and ...
The 1977 meeting of six families in Ed and Barbara Hart's home was the first fellowship dinner and worship gathering of NCUMC. They took the first step to find a permanent church home. The church was officially chartered on September 11, 1977, with 78 members, who placed wheat stalks at the base of a cedar cross symbolizing individual sowers uniting in a community of faith. They took several steps because of the growing membership until The Hart Center was built in 1978. In 2004, our church moved to the present location due to an increasing membership. Our church's vision is to make fully devoted followers of Christ, and it is a reality. We are reaching more people than ever and are sharing the light of the world, Jesus Christ! We have heard God's call; we want to continue being obedient! Over the last year, we have experienced steady growth in our worship services, children's program and adult discipleship classes. Our resources and space are being stretched to the maximum. Now is the time for The Next Step!
God has called our congregation to make His vision our reality. It is time to step out in faith again. Previously, the church approved a master plan developed to expand and renovate the church. The loss of approximately 20,000-square-feet in the 2008 fire, along with growing membership, intensified our need for expansion. Our building committee is working to address our needs. We are focusing on prayer, listening to God and discerning how the Spirit is calling our church. Without prayer we will easily slip into our own will instead of God's. To fully fund this large-scale project, our goal is to raise $5.78 million to add to the $1.5 million we have on hand for this project. We are uniting as the people of God to make this a time of Spiritual Renewal.
